LabVIEW's INI file and the serpderv file really should not matter when using VISA. Your problem is probably in the visaconf.ini file configuration. Check out this KB and see if it helps:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/6e1c422eea4d54f286256ada0053fba2?OpenDocument
I am running LabView 6.0.2 and NI-VISA 2.5 runtime. On a machine where LabView 6.0.2 is installed the application reads COM10. When LabView is not present, COM10 (or higher) cannot be read.

I have modified the ini-files (the application and LabView) to have the line:

serialDevices="COM1;COM2;COM3;COM4;COM5;COM6;COM7;COM8;COM9;\\.\COM10; \\.\COM11;\\.\COM12;\\.\COM13;\\.\COM14;\\.\COM15;\\.\COM16;\\.\COM17;\\.\COM18;\\.\COM19;\\.\COM20;LPT1;LPT2"

All in one line.

I have also added serpdrv in the application directory.

Trying to solve this problem is getting already a bit desperate. Any advice?

Thanks
--Ilkka
The visaconf.ini is also correct. However, we are now having suspicions, that the test machine(s) is/are not functioning correctly. Ie one machine found COM10, but other machines with the same configuration (except the motherboard and processor) do not.
