llb file not registered for Labview

Hi,
I have Windows XP SP2 and have LabView 7.1 installed. I am trying to access a VI library file (llb), but it is not registered with the LabView application. If I try to go to tools/folder optiions/file types, select the llb extension, it say that the prefered application is Adobe Reader. If I try to change the application type, I can navigate to the LabView executible, select it, but nothing happens - still thinks Adobe is the best application to use.

How can I make the correct file associations?

Hello,

Right click the file, choose Open with, choose program.
On the next dialog, choose LabVIEW and check the "Always use ~the selected program to open this kind of file".

There is also a check box in LabVIEW, in tools -- options -- miscelaneous tab -- Enable Windows Explorer for llb files. This is to open them with the explorer as if they were a directory.

Thanks for the reply, but that was the first thing that was tried, followed with Tools/...

But to give you a feel for what is happening -
Select file, right click, select open with
Check the "Select the program from a list", click OK

The dialog box gives a list of recommended programs - Adobe Acrobat 5.0; followed by a list of "Other Programs". LabView is not in the "Other" list, so I click Browse and navigate to /Program files/National Instruments/LabView 7.1 and ckick on LabView.exe, click OK. The slected application (LabView) does not appear in the "Other Programs" list so I can not select it...

Open a windows explorer window and go to Tools>>Folder Options, File Types tab.
Find the LLB extension. You can try editing it, changing the program which opens it or delete it and reassociate it from scratch. I'm not sure starting from scratch will restore all the correct settings (icon, opening properly), so if you do that, you may have to do these yourself.

Don't know why I didn't try to delete the association the first time out, just tried to change it. But deleting it, then reassociating it to labview worked....
