I hope this is not a case of this VI being from a version of LabVIEW you don't have.

Try searching the examples for the keyword peak. The original should be there together with all the Librarys. (Perhaps the examples are not installed / can not be located).

Take care NOT to overwrite the original librarys, as the name of the VI I attached (you might rename it).

Hello Everyone,

I want to
measure damping by acquiring the damped vibration response.

In order to
do so I would need to get information about how fast the signal declines.

That
means, that I need for my calculations the peak value of at least two defined oscillation peaks
within the signal.

Does anyone know how to do so or is there another possiblity to aquire the damping rate.

Any help
greatly appreciated.

I have made a minor modification to one of the samples provided with LabVIEW (7.1) so that you can get a feel for what you are trying to do.

On some of the systems that I have worked with sampling would be done over a number of cycles and banded. The frequency would be important as well. You will almost certainly have to process a real world signal before using this sample but this sample should give you an excellent start point though.

Message Edité par Conseils le 11-05-2006 02:51 PM

thank you for your quick reply.

I have a problem with using the Vi you gave to me cos I dont have the subvi "Advanced Peak Detector PtByPt.vi".

Maybe you could post it here as well.

Thanks a lot
