Hello,

I want to create an application, where up to six monitors shall be used
as labview interfaces (like a videoboard). The data, which is displayed
is broadcasted via TCP/IP.
One solution would be to buy 6 PCs including monitors, install Labview
on all PCs and then create for each PC its own TCP/IP connection.
Does anybody have experience in displaying data on several monitors?
Are there any graphic cards, where I can plug-in more than just one
monitor, so I don't have to buy 6 new PCs (and spare a lot of money
:-)).
Any help is appreciated.

There are lots of video cards that control more than one
monitor. Most can handle either two or four, but I haven't
heard of any that handle six. Win98 has multi-monitor support,
and Win2000 will bring it to NT
style OSes. These OS versions
allow for you to use more than one video card. That means
that two or three of these cards can go in one PC, that PC
can run Win98, and the monitors can be arranged into several
different configurations.

I have to point out that this works as well as the first Mac II,
which I used in 1990.

What platform are you on?

Win98 supports the use of multiple monitors ( most popular cards are
supported, the current list is at )
Of course, with
6 monitors.. not many computers have 6PCI ( or 5PCI and 1AGP
slots ) If you want a low-cost, multiple monitor set up.. I'd look at the
Matrox Millennium series. Either the PCI G100 or G200 "dual head" cards will
work. This way, you only need three videocards to run six monitors.

On my NT box, I use a G400Max to support two monitors ( LOVE this videocard
for 2D work.. stunning quality at high resolutions ) without a hitch.
Unfortunately, it's only an AGP card.

So, assuming you are on an AGP computer.. you may want a G400 as your main
card.. and two G100/200 dualhead cards
