Hi all,

What about a PDA device? It wouldn't be the best for harsh environments, but they can come with holsters, which can be professional. You're right, a Wii mote is necessarily the best tool for the job, and you probably would miss out on the joy of using its gyro's if you're just using the buttons. 🙂 Besides that, you probably don't want to by an RF module, which would be extremely expensive for just that application.

You could also use a 6in touch panel and perhaps get wireless connectivity by using the USB port with a plug and play antenna. Maybe another vendor makes a TPC with wireless connectivity. But that's just the PDA anyway, so I think the PDA is the way to go. I'd look into options there and let us know if you have any more questions.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

Hello,

I have an application where I need to control a LabVIEW application running on a PXI using an industrial remote control. Does anybody ever used or saw one (usb, bluetooth, etc..)?

In fact, it is not really a LabVIEW question, I'm only looking for the hardware (the remote control).

Thanks,

Patrick

Hello Hillman,

I've done a lot of reseach on the web and found almost nothing except this one, which is not that much industrial. It come with a IR-Serial interface that ou can connect to your computer or PXI. (http://www.remotefactory.com/2a2.htm).

You can also use a universal remote or even a Wii remote if you are ready writing your onw driver. However, you don't look really serious in front of your customer!!!

Thanks,

Patrick

Interesting.

But I have a lot of doubts about a product where the vendor spells at least 3 words wrong on its website.

Vehicals?

Diatance?

Trough?

One hand held device with a dozen buttons controlling an enitre car factory? That is a miracle device!

Message Edited by Ravens Fan on 10-30-2008 04:51 PM
