Developer Exchange User Group Meeting ?

I was reading CC's comments in the E-List thread

when the thought crossed my mind of a Dev-Exchange User Group meeting.

I would love to hear voices to go with icons.

Is this just a crazy idea or does anyone see any value in such a thing?

I think it's a terrible idea!!!

Just kidding, it's a good idea, only it's flawed by one obvious obstacle - the community is global and getting everyone together is not particularly easy. AFAIK, the common communication programs only allow up to six or so concurrent connections to a video conference, so that's not really an option either. Any other ideas on how to solve this minor technicality?

These obstacles have already been encountered by the Champions.

Video feeds have not been attempted by tha Champions but we should be able to share screens and listen to audio.

The cost of setting up the "Webinar" I would hope would compare with the cost of pizza.

In theory this could be a record setting user group meeting.

There is always the option to meet at NI week. I suggested this last year, and I couldn't go for workload reasons. NI could set aside a time and place at each NI week for us to visit. As the years go by and more people get a chance to go, sooner or later we will meet nearly everyone here. Is there an NI week in France, or anywhere in Europe?

We should add that to our list!

I would still like to see something that could get all of us involved (I probably will not be at NI Week) sooner and more often, quarterly?

It just seems that if we have accomplished what we have without cooperation and organization, then we may be able to improve our performance if we did work together in a more formal fashion.

I would like to see the number of forum participants increase and it seems a good old-fashioned group-think would help.

So keep them ideas coming!

I don't think there is another NI week, but NI does annually hold in many places what it calls "NIdays" which is a single day event with collected presentations from that year's NI week.
