LabVIEW Developer Education Day

I was wondering if any experienced users have attended one of these and found them worthwhile. I will be taking the CLD in the near future, and it looks like this might be something to help with that. A bit of a drive for me to the nearest one, so just wondering if I should do it.

I attended one two weeks ago. I found it very worthwhile, especially as it was oriented toward certification preparation. In addition to all the local NI field personnel two people from Austin were present. The presentations were fairly consistently at a high level. It definitely did not have the feel of a sales pitch - which sometimes happens at other events.

NI bought lunch, and some nice discounts for future training or certification were available.

To reiterate, definitely worth it for the coupons and the stuff they discuss is also worthwhile. The ones we have in Dallas usually have a couple presentations going on at once for different skill levels. So, you can find the ones that suit you best.

Definitely worth the time to attend one of these. The cert prep materials are great. Presenters are very knowledgeble, often from Austin and involved in NI R&D.

I find them to be useful. No matter your level of experince you can always learn something new. It is also a good opportunity to meet up with other developers in your area.

They are usually worth going. I almost always came out of them with a page full of ideas. Unfortunately, some idiot schedules my local one over the CLA Summit, so I am stuck letting Lynn tell me all about it.

Those are the slides I saw.

Notes are not in a sharing-friendly format at the moment. That means I am having trouble reading my own handwriting. I will get them out in the next day or two.

I will also say that the networking with other LabVIEWers and NI folks can have long term benefits, particularly if you are ever in the job market. Some of these also have given out certification discount coupons. I would probably go, but where I am now is not geographically nor work schedule friendly with the ones "nearest" me.

Wow does that take me back to other times! Schaumburg was the first place I installed a Rail Road Crossing, Naperville is not only an old stomping ground for this former USN ET "A" school instructor but, the last town I was sent into to install a "Kavouras" Triton Doppler Weather Radar system. So, While waiting for a part to be delivered I had half a day to bumb around in Naperville... What would any geek do with half a day and Fermi Lab right there? One of these days I hope for another bit of down time near CERN!

Both. Both Mark Balla and I are in the Chicago area. I have missed the last couple developer days due to stuff at work. Mark B. generally attends all of the them. I am planning on going this year.
