Digital output on NI-ELVIS doesm't work

Hi.

I tried the NI ELVIS DIO WRITHE coming with the software and checked with every possible place.  I still don't get any change on the breadboard.

I've checked:

connection,
fuse
replaced bread board, ELVIS workstation, DAQ-6024E.

What can be wrong? Thanks a lot for possible help.

Hi Jason,

Can we please confirm that the PCI-6024E is working correctly?  Please go to Start > Programs > National Instruments > Measurement and Automation Explorer.  On the left there are several tree structures, please expand NI-DAQmx Devices.  Right click on the PCI-6024E and select Test Panels.

A window should pop up that will enable us to test the DAQ card directly.  You can select the Digital I/O tab change your digital ports to output and you can also change the states of each digital line.  You can measure the lines at the end of the cable with a multimeter to see if the card is even changing states.  You can find the pinout for the device by right clicking on the PCI-6024E in Measurement and Automation Explorer and selecting Device Pinouts.  If your card is changing states with testpanel, then we know that your card is good.  The problem lies with NI-Elvis or with the software.  Let me know how it goes,  I will be watching for your response.

Jeff,

I checked the DAQ card with the test panel in MAX and can see the voltage change now.  Looks like something wrong with the ELVIS.  But can be what? Have you seen this before?

Thanks.

I tried one more thing now:

When I opened the "Digital Reader" or "Digital Writer" on the "NI-ELVIS" interface, an error poped up:

Error -9320 occurred at NI ELVIS DIO - Initialize (refnum).vi
Possible reason(s):
NI ELVIS: The specified refnum type is invalid.  For instance, you may have connected a refnum from an FGEN VI to a Variable Power Supply VI.

Any suggestions?  Thanks a lot.

Error 9320 did not show up again after I restarted the NI-ELVIS program.  "Digital Reader" or "Digital Writer" both showed up ok, but neither of them worked properly.  Thanks.

I've got it.  It is a stupid mistake, not mine though...

The DI (0..7) and DO (0...7) labled on the prototype board is swapped.  When I tried DO(0...7), I got nothing.  For some reason, I tried DI(0) and saw the voltage changed as expected.

Thanks anyway fir the concern.
