Error – 229771 occurred at DAQmx Start Task

I have the latest updates for LabView student edition and DAQmx for acquiring data from my USB 6008 and I have an analog 3V input wired. The USB 6008 appears to work because when I run a test panel in measurement and automation explorer, it displays the voltage input.  I’m trying a very basic vi in LabView to graph an analog voltage using the DAQ assistant but I get the following message when I hit run:

Hi BCuervo,

Just a few follow-up questions:

1.  What OS are you running?

2.  Which version of LabVIEW?

3.  Can you try running the Cont Ac&Graph Voltage-Int Clk.vi shipping example (in LabVIEW go to Help » Find Examples... » Hardware Input and Output » DAQmx » Analog Measurements » Voltage).

4.  Which Version of DAQmx are you using?  9.0.2 is the most recent version (an upgrade/repair would be a good troubleshooting step in this case).

I have seen the MIG Error as a result of a software corruption in the past so upgrading or repairing DAQmx would be a good first step (DAQmx 9.0.2 supports LabVIEW 8.2.x, 8.5.x, 8.6.x, 2009).  Be sure to let us know how it goes or if the problem persists after upgrading.

Best Regards,

John

Hi John,

I'm running Windows Vista with LabView version 90f2. I just downloaded nidaq902f0 to replace nidaq900f2 but I'm still getting the same error when I try to run the simple program. I've even tried running it using the "Data acquisition with NiDaqmx.vi" template. When using the template, I don't get the error message but no output is displayed on the graph. When I try to load the example vi you suggested, I get, "Error occurred - The NI help server could not be found". I have the USB 6008 wired for a loop back test.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Bryan

Hi Bryan,

There are a couple reasons why the Help Server might not be found.

Ignoring that issue for now, I went ahead and attached two examples that I would try: one uses the on-board clock of the DAQ device and the other is software-timed.

Best Regards,

Just noticed Seth's post in the other thread--if the examples I posted don't help out I would check the services running like he mentioned (especially considering what you mentioned about the Help Server).

Also, we should consolidate these threads--let's continue posting on the DAQ thread that you've started which is the more relevant forum for this issue.

I am getting the same message (see attachment of screen shot).  I created a project and added a vi to it.  If I run the vi within the project, I get this error.  If I run the vi outside of the project (just open the vi), I DO NOT get the error.

I am running Labview 2012 (32bit) and Win7 (64bit) OS.

I would really like a response other than uninstall/installl the DAQmx driver as I have already tried this.

Hello TimA2011,

Have you attempted to open a new project and add this VI into this new project and see if you get this error? Does this error occur with Examples in the NI-Example Finder when you attempt to add them to a project? What version of NI DAQmx are you using? What hardware are you using? Please take a look at this Knowledge Base Article which discusses the error you are seeing, please let me know if you have already taken a look at this article. You could attempt a force reinstall detailed on this Knowledge Base Article.

Izzy, thanks for the response.

After reading the Knowledgebase and other people's comments, I am getting by the error (very catastrophic as nothing will work) by the following:

1. In MAX (I am using v5.3.1), save all Tasks, Scales, etc.(you will need this as a reference to create new ones)

2. Reset the configurations in MAX.  Tools->Reset Configuration Data     >> note: this will wipe out all your tasks, scales, etc <<

3. Restart the PC.

4. RE-CREATE the tasks and Scales.  I cannot re-use the saved .nce file.  I wonder after the error if the system "corrupts" MAX?

A few additional observations:

1. Before the error, while in the block diagram, I can select different Tasks (see attachment) from the I/O pulldown.

2. After the error, if I try the same thing, the I/O pulldown has NO Tasks that I can select from.  But, the Tasks still exist in MAX.

There appears to be a "disconnect" between MAX Tasks and the Block Diagram.

Hope this helps others and the problem can be fixed.

I am using DAQmx driver v9.6.1, Labview 2012, and cDAQ-9174 and various c-modules.
