MyDAQ not recognized

I see many similar posts on this board, with no definitive solutions.

NI ELVISmx 4.4

DAQmx 9.5.5

The device does appear in Windows Device Manager, but there is no driver.

Troubleshooting utilities are non functional without the driver.

Currently downloading DAQmx 9.6, however all posts indicate that the drivers I currently have should be sufficient.

Could the problem be USB 3 ports?

This laptop does not have any USB 2 ports.

-edit-

Tested with a USB 2.0 hub.   No difference.

Can I ask what laptop it is?

What we really need to look at is the device tree in Device Manager. Here is a page that showed someone how to find their USB device in the tree on some other system.

https://pattersonsupport.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13152/~/how-to-determine-which-devices...

The idea is the same. The names  on your machine will be different.

If you can post a screenshot of your device manager similar to the one in the link that would help alot. We will need to see the myDAQ Device (maybe showing as unknown USB Device) all the way up the tree.

Hello Gavin,

Thanks for the response.

The laptop is a Dell Insperon 7720.  i7 2.3GHz, 8G RAM running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.

I have attached a screenshot of my Device Manager.  The myDAQ is listed.  But there is no available driver.

I have also just installed the latest DAQmx drivers.  (9.6)  This made no difference.

Tried uninstalling the device from Device Manager and scanning for hardware changes.  (sometimes that works for other devices)  This did not work either.

At this point I'm going to try installing whatever is on the old CD I found boxed with the device.  Confidence is low.

The main difference in what you posted and what I asked for is that the Device Manager is set to see devices "by connection". Look at the difference between your screenshot and the screenshot on the page I linked.

A screenshot in that mode would be more helpful.

Here is another screenshot.

I have continued to try other things.  So far no luck.

I've tried the myDAQ now on three PCs, all with drivers that should support this device.

All act the same.  The blue LED on the myDAQ lights momentarily, then turns off.  The device appears in the Device Manager, so Windows does see this device.  There's just no compatible driver for it.

Is it possible that this version of ELVISmx 4.4 simply isn't compatible with the myDAQ?

Has *anyone* managed to make the myDAQ work 4.4?

Has anyone managed to make the myDAQ work with any version of the ELVISmx driver?

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for all of the information so far. Three questions:

Are all of the PCs laptops? Are all the ports USB 3.0? Have you tried a different usb cable?

Hi Gavin,

3 different ( known working ) USB cables.  Filtered.  Non filtered.  Long.  Short.  etc.

Only my laptop had the USB 3.0 ports.  The other two PCs have USB 2.0

I also tried reverting to the ELVIS drivers that came with the device.  These are known to have worked previously.  ( There's video proof! *grin* )

At this point I'm starting to suspect that the myDAQ hardware has failed somehow.

Hi,

Do you have another myDAQ that you can connect to a computer? If you have one, you can test if the problem is related with the driver or with your hardware. I have been reviewing the hardware supported by NI-DAQmx 9.6 and myDAQ is one of them so the driver should not be the problem. Other thing that you can try is changing the cable that connects myDAQ to your computer.

On the other hand, I was wondering if your myDAQ was working correctly before. If your answer is yes, did you try to connect again the hardware to the computer where it was recognized in order to see if it is recognize correctly?

Regards,
