Hi,
I'm in a SR Design Group working with ELVIS and we wanted do do a quick demo of the NI ELVIS Quanser Rotary Inverted Pendulum. All I'm looking for is to demonstrate the example VI that comes with the software (Swing up control) and run that just so we can demonstrate what ELVIS can do with the power of LabVIEW. My problem is the laptop that was given to me only has LabVIEW 8.6 and some of the VI's wont work when I try to run the simulation of any of the 3 VI's from the CD.
Should I uninstall 8.6 and get 9.0? What should I do? I just want to make it balance/stand up, and right now I'm having tons of problems with the software!!!
Thanks

Currently I'm downloading 8.6.1, Can I delete 8.6 off my PC? 8.6.1 Should be able to run the pendulum? I can just open 8.6.1 and then open the VI from the CD and that should work? (assuming the ELVIS board is connected and all that?)
thanks

You shouldn't need to delete any versions of LabVIEW from your machine to install a newer version. Different versions of LabVIEW coexist with one another on systems regularly. If you want to open a newer file on a different version of LabVIEW as you stated with your CD, just open the newer version and open the VIs directly. There isn't an issue with having 8.6, 8.6.1, or 9.0 installed at the same time.
With that said, do you know which particular VIs you are having trouble opening? I'm trying to track down the exact versions of those files here and any other specifics you could give me would help with that.
