About connecting non-NI-CAN boards

Hi everybody,

Im trying to connect some non-NI-CAN cards with NI-CAN cards,
but it doesnt work. Im browsing the NI-Manuals and there are some
NI procedures to configure the NI cards, some of them are related to
connect NI to NI cards, and some others for non-NI cards. I have
followed the logical sequence, so: Configure-Open and Write or Read.
It doesnt work, also I have checked the CAN rev. the non-NI cards belong

to 2.0A, so I have configured the NI-CAN driver properly (I suppose).
Some ideas??

Thanks in advance.

The first step would be to be sure that both CAN cards work. With our CAN cards, there is a diagnostic utility. Also, be sure to map CAN0 to port1 (and CAN1 to port2 for two-port cards). The other thing to check is if it's internally or externally powered. If it's internally powered, the V+ line should not be connected. If it's externally powered, there should be a power supply on V+ and V-. Most cards have a jumper that can set the internal/external power choice.

The object-to-object program is also a good way to be sure the card is working. There's probably similar steps that need to be followed with the other CAN card.

Also, be sure set the same baud rate on both cards. It may also be necessary to use some termination resistors. Consult the
"Cabling requirements" sections of the User Manual for more details (manuals available at ni.com/manuals).
