Devicenet and EDS problem

Hi,
I use a PCI-CAN and NI-DNET 1.5 to configure my GP gauges.
When I use the Devicenet configurator, I can find my gauges alright in MAX.  I used GP provided EDS sheets and loaded them successfully.  After refreshing the device list, things seemed fine.  However, the EDS information showed (NULL) values and there is no parameters listed.  When I tried to open the EDS file, it said it's not loaded -- but I thought I have loaded it successfully?
Can anyone enlighten me what's wrong.
Please email me at wpai@ntu.edu.tw as I don't check this forum regularly.
Thanks.

Hi Larry,

Configurator loads the EDS file according to the device identity.

You can see the device identity in Configurator -> "General" tab. The section "Device" in the EDS file is the identity information.

The attached picture shows how to check.

Regards,

Frank

It looks like my EDS file is too new.  The product code and product type IDs read from the device do not match that of the EDS file.  If I manually change those IDs in the EDS file, it loads successfully and I can read parameters, though some parameters show error.
Probably I should contact my vendor again to get proper EDS file.
Is there a database of EDS somewhere that I can find EDS for each vendor device with all major/minor revisions?
Thanks!

Hello larry123,
I do not know of an all encompassing database for EDS files.  I think it is a good idea to contact your vendor to get the appropriate version.

Good luck with your application!
