PCMCIA-CAN2 driver conflicts with already assigned IRQ#.

Upon installation of a PCMCIA-CAN/2 card into an Acer laptop running Windows NT4.0, when booting, the driver fails to start. Looking at the EventLog it appears that the nican driver requires access to IRQ line #10 which is already used with some onboard modem. I have no way to reassign the IRQ line of the onboard modem and there is no way to assign the PCMCIA-CAN2 driver to a given IRQ line. How can I tune the nican driver for another IRQ?

Hi,

there is nothing in particular you can do in the driver. The IRQ assignments are handled by the OS. In Windows NT, you can go to the Control Panel >> PC Card (PCMCIA). Open this utility and select your card. Then click on Properties.

At the moment I don't have a Windows NT laptop, but you should be able to set the IRQs on a PCMCIA, since the bus is based on ISA.

With PCI device the assigments are done in the BIOS, so you cannot change them in the OS. Some BIOSes allow you to configure the assigments.
