TestPanel Error No CAN ports available (MAX USB-8473)

Message says:

'Be sure to have at least one NI CAN card inserted into your computer'

The can device IS installed and has successfully passed the self test.  The bus monitor works properly, however when i set up a message and click the test panel button i get the above error.

I'm a new user by the way.
