gtpats,

I too would be interested in finding out more about LON. I have been unable to find much information on the web about this protocol. Do you have any additional links to information about LON? Is this protocol used to make automated measurements? What industries use LON?

National Instruments' CAN products provide full ISO 11898 compatibility while leveraging the power and ease-of-use of the LabVIEW programming environment. We also provide many shipping examples in VB and C in addition to LabVIEW. CAN is used in industries such as automotive and medical to provide serial-like data communication in real-time. For more information on CAN I would recommend the following websites:

National Instruments' CAN Interfaces

Bosch CAN Homepage

Hope this helps!

hi there
well,LON is similar to CAN, used as a serial communication(twisted pair, RF, coaxial, etc) used for industrial automation, 255 max no devices(nodes)can be connected.
its from Echelon company, they use Neuron chips, either from toshiba or cypress (as far as i know)
lot of info at this site

http://www.echelon.com

gtpats,

Well I found this link on our site:

http://www.ni.com/opc/opc_resources.htm

Looks like it is used in control type situations whereas CAN is message-based communication with instruments and sensors...That's all I could dig up on this!
