*Not quite a plea for full words but just for some decent grammar*
When one period just isn't good enough, you get posts like these. Here is an example of one:
I dont want some extra buttons on my screen.......that is the only reason.....I am just displaying a test report using This control.........I think This bug is present since 8.0??? right....
Even the signature has them. *shakes head*

More than one period..... means a pause between sentence fragments. It could also mean "and so on", such as in "1, 2, 3....". Shortcuts are great if not overused.

I'm aware of what it means...
However, in the case of my post above, they are unnecessary, and excessively overused.

In my opinion, you have got to be pretty lazy in order to constantly type shortcuts instead of full words, with a few exceptions. I find the dots (...) to be an exception, but I agree with you that they were overused. Anything can be abused. This is one case where the abuse took place............................................

Another example of this. It does seem to occur most often with people who only know "text speak". I find it annoying also, and it shows it is just one more example of the corruption of the English language and the short attention span of young people today who can't focus on spelling out an entire word or completing a thought so that it is a complete sentence.

I thought three dots (...) automagically invoked a dialog...
