No just trying to lighten the load before you wade into the next posts.

I just got a reply from questioner that lets us look at this topic from the "other side" in this thread where rayclout posted;

Done!.....the right way I hope. I sometimes get a bit edgy doing things on this forum. It's quite easy to raise the ire of too many posters and get creamed for it. I've even had students refuse to use this fourm because they don't wan't to be publcily ridiculed for making seeminlgy innocent beginners mistakes.
Regards
Ray
I replied there but also indicated I would raise this concern with the team.
And yes I mean TEAM.
We are all human and subject to insult and injury when we percieve we are being abused. What the "TEAM" can do is step in when we see our team members getting heated.
I am interested in what the rest of you think about how we can let the noobs participate without feeing like they are being beat up.
Q:
Is it possible to get LV ideas across without beating people up?
Please share your thoughts.
Ben

Agreed, frustrating thread...
But these threads didn't start out frustrating. They started out with a person too ignorant to realize they need to know more about the language and the IDE before seeking technical guidance in solving a problem....
... but the best thing that could have happened to both of those guys is pointing them to a FAQ entry... and then thread silence....
The amount of help offered to these guys should be commensurate to their knowledge - limited.
Above, I summarized my intended meaning. I was trying to say in a diplomatic manner that the forum regulars should be able to spot a person who "can't even wire a string constant into a SubVI". Once this identification is made, a simple post just like Dennis' should be the last post on that thread by a forum regular until the original poster has shown some initiative or some source code. Continued "help" on the forum is only going to keep the new guy from going to the manual or tutorials which would help more than anything.
Generally, the turning point when the original poster becomes frustrated is after a comment from a forum regular like "It's clear you don't know what you're doing" or "Have you ever seen a programming language before in your life?" They are accurate assessments, but could be reworded in a less accusatory manner: "I see you making the same mistakes I made as a beginner... tutorials really helped me get up and running faster".

But the "It's clear you don't know what you're doing" or "Have you ever seen a programming language before in your life?" are so much more accurate 😄

Ben's quote of the OP
I've even had students refuse to use this fourm because they don't wan't to be publcily ridiculed for making seeminlgy innocent beginners mistake
There are two distict feelings I get from this one line.

I don't think the regulars are as rude as some of the newbies that we try to help.
LOL! 😄

I agree 100%. I only saw one abuse by a contributor and that was many years ago.
But to play devil's advocate...
We can play the part of role models and behave as we wish they would, or reaching into Proverbs "Answer not a fool as a fool."
When an OP acts foolish they bring shame on themselves. When we acts foolish, we can bring shame on the entire community.
Done playing DA.

You're a good DA, Ben...
You'd probably make a good DA.
But I prefer my DA.
Did you design any DA?

Edit: Yes it seems that way.
