Hi Felix,

Thank you so much for this! Actually, Deepavali it is the perfect word in Tamil, for Diwali in Hindi. In Singapore & Malaysia, Tamil is one of the official languages & the people who have settled there over the decades, have very high fervour for their (our) mother tongue Tamil.

Please plan a visit to Lord Muruga temple in Kuala Lampur, if you have time & Malaysian visa.

In India, however, at least in my city, it's impossible to pass more than 2 seconds without hearing some noise

Not so much Vaibhav, nowadays. Smiley Sad

When our Supreme Court ordered a ban of sound crackers > 80 (or 100) dB before some 4 years, I was one of the much disappointed persons among the millionsSmiley Mad, that I ve almost stopped bursting crackers altogether. I love bombs (atom, hydro & bullet) just for their sheer power of making huge single sound (definitely not noise for me!Smiley Wink ). Smiley Happy

Yeah! Even I bought 2 night fireworks each for Rs.1750. I dont know the exact name, a collection of 60-shots-cluster, all connected in a daisy-chain fashion inside.

All we need to do is go to a very open place, keep this in the junction, light the open end thread, stay away & gaze the sky for the next 15 minutes, full of colorful showers of light after each thunder shot of sound.

I got crakers like crazy this time. I got 2 1000 shots, 3 500 ones, speed-100, shock, bloom and the list will go on and on.... Reallly had a blast...... About 10000 walla it is a traditional one. What mathan had told was something like bullet fire one which I didnt get it. The crackers were fine.

Now coming to the bad part. It was a chaos in parrys and buying all these stuffs with no parking space and stuffing everything in a couple of autos was kinda reallly hectic and draining. Didnt miss my gym a little bit. But fun it was....

My craziness for crackers have gone long past. We (my bro'r & I) used to burst for Rs.1000, 300 on the eve, 400 on Diwali day & 300 the day after during my school days upto 1997. Smiley Happy  Then I fought with my father to increase the budget by another 500 so that all the 3 days had equal proportion. This was so till I finished college in 2001 or maybe a year after that. Smiley Happy

Once I got job, I started thinking why to waste (my)money in crackers. Smiley Wink So, instead I started buying more dress. Smiley Happy

So, where are you now, back to business?

BTW, did you work for/in Honeywell?
