Also, my former image seems to have disappeared, but it should be obvious that it's from The Shawshank Redemption.

Weird snow this weekend... couple inches of fresh on top of crusty hard stuff.  Bad news for avalanches.

Stuck to the trees and flat areas.

Good snow up north. Smiley Happy

10 feet of it. Smiley Wink

I'm not sure which one's right, the ultrasonic sensor is about 6" off from what any of the sticks read.  Could have poked the snow with my avalanche probe too, I suppose... and gotten another completely different reading Smiley Very Happy

I ran a marathon this weekend, finishing in 185th place (out of the 225 that finished).  It was the New River Marathon in the beautiful mountain country of Todd, NC.

There was a killer, four mile long hill that put the scowl on my face that lasted until the finish line, below.  The un-numbered runner next to me is my son; he ran the last quarter-mile with me to photobomb the finish.

At least I have a relatively easy time to beat next year.

Runner #182 was wearing a superhero outfit and interviewed people with his phone during the race.  I later found out that he's working toward a world record 160 marathons in a calendar year - he's the Marathon Man.  I was ahead of him until mile 24/25 when he, along with anyone else that could still run, passed me.  I could only run until a leg muscle cramped, then I'd walk until it released.  Wash, rinse, repeat for twelve miles...

It's not the 26 miles, it's the 385 yards.

Relay runners used to really piss me off.  You're in the this-sucks-yet-is-fun phase at mile 20 and some dude trucks by not breathing hard or breaking a sweat.  I should have been happy that my marathon pace was faster than his three buddies' 10K pace, but you aren't thinking that clearly.  Of course, now I am pretty sure my 10K pace is slower than my old marathon split for the final 10K.
