*eagerly presses "Home" button to look at the PM inbox*
*nothing new*
Such is life, I guess.

Why hit the home button? Just look for the open envolope (on a random side note: Why is a closed envelope the sign for nothing new and an open one the choice to denote unread PMs available? Seems backwards I usually haven't read the item in a closed enevelope)

That envelope is so invisible, that I never notice if I have PMs. I usually only notice them when I get an e-mail alert.
If there are unread messages, the envelope should be flashing or have some contrasting color to it.

Because I was 3/4 of the way down the page, and the PM icon is on the top of the page.
It's either one "Home" button press, or a dozen "Page Up" (or shift-space) keystrokes. All about efficiency.

My mistake. I thought you meant the browser's home button... (Well it takes me to my profile page)

I never knew this shortcut before. Spacebar scrolls down, shift-space scrolls up. I don't know why I never stumbled on it. I don't know why I need it because I'd just use the scrollwheel or page up page down. But thanks for helping me discover something new today.

I've worn out a few scroll wheels before (in fact, the middle-click on this mouse is about gone, which makes spinning parts around in solidworks tricky...), so I've adjusted my browsing habits to more durable buttons.
There's side-buttons on my mouse I have programmed to pageup/pagedown, though most of the time I still space and shift-space to navigate around (especially on forums). With Ctrl-W closing the tab, my thumb's already on the space bar, and ctrl-click a link to throw it to a new tab.

I see your space bar as the same wear spot on it mine does.
Amazing how striking or resting your thumb there over the years can wear the texture off the plastic.

This is why my code is intersperesed with "``" comments and caps inverted. My left thumb is lazy.
