Why Do I Get Error 1055 When Creating a New Project?

Problem:

I have installed the FRC update, but any time I try to create a new project I get error 1055 and the project does not load.

Solution:

This error usually occurs when the FRC update is installed on a computer with standard LabVIEW 8.5.1. LabVIEW should instead be installed from the DVD. The FRC update was meant to target this DVD installation which has additional features for FIRST that standard LabVIEW does not have. Specifically, this error is most likely due to a miss-installation of NI-RIO or LabVIEW Real-Time which is included in the DVD and is not part of the FRC update. If you have properly installed LabVIEW from the DVD before installing the FRC update and you are still getting this error, it is possible that a repair or reinstallation of your software will solve this problem.
