6602 not detected Measurement and Automation Explorer or Windows 7 Device Manager

Solved!

I have a PCI 6602, in a PC that is running windows 7 home premium and it not showing up in the device manager and consequently Measurement and Automation Explorer.  What is odd is that I am not seeing the PCIe-6535 either.

Hey mwalczak,

Getting more information on your situation would be useful.  Do you have DAQmx installed on the system? If so which version?  Also is this a problem that just began occuring or is this your first time installing these cards in the system?  If it is your first time installing, make sure you check out the Installation Guide: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373235u.pdf.

It is the latest Daqmx 9.4.  The system was working and all the NI cards, a PCI-6602 and a PCIe-6535 were functioning.  A tech barrowed the 6602 card for another system and when he returned it to the original system neither the 6602 card nor the 6535 were being seen by the windows or DAQmx.  I had him uninstall DAQmx and reinstall it and the problem remained.  I later tried it in another low end system and the results were similar.  I then tried the cards individually in two more systems with the same results. This makes me think that the cards got trashed somehow, but I am having a hard time with that, because everything was operating fine and the 6535 was not removed when the tech removed the 6602.

Thanks,

M

Hey M,

Unfortunately if windows device manager is unable to see the devices on any of the multiple computers, it definitely points toward the cards being broken.  I would recommend you head over to http://www.ni.com/support/ and create a Service Request to begin the repair process for these devices.

Thanks that's what I thought.  I am just not sure how this happened.
