I have Omega Engineering's wind speed sensor and rain (tipping bucket) gage for the WMS-16. The wind speed and tipping bucket pulse counter inputs are normally at 1.6 Vdc and are pulled down to ground by each switch closure. I can input 5 Vdc and still detect a drop in voltage with each switch closure, so I think the 1.6 Vdc is just how the WMS-16 datalogger is setup (Omega never confirmed this, been very difficult to get specs on these sensors). Seems to me I need the CTR-502, but I am confused if I am in need of a sinking (CTR-500) or sourcing (CTR-502) input type with these sensors? Any help appreciated.

Hi,
What you are describing sounds like a sinking digital output. So you are correct, you need the CTR-502 sourcing counter module.
Also, make sure that the voltage drop when the switch closes is enough to be detected. (Specs)
I hope this answers your questions.
