Error 4.2 when scanning an HP 5334A instrument

I'm trying to scan an instrument HP5334A but fails. I'm using a NI GPIB card on one PC and a USB-GPIB on another but both of them fails to scan the instrument. I tried connecting a different instrument, Philips Power Supply, and it was detected and communicates fine.

Hi,

Do you know if that instrument is 488.2 compliant? Older instruments may not respond to the *IDN? command that is required by 488.2. Also make sure that you have the instrument set to an unused primary address.

Do you see the instrument go into remote mode? and lastly are you sure that the GPIB port on the instrument works correctly?

Hope this helps out!
