Reading Encoder Through a SC-2043-SG conditionner

Hi,

I am trying to get position signals from an encoder to a PCI-6221 card. However, I am required to use the screw terminals of a SC-2043-SG conditionner between them. I am a little bit confused by the documentation of the SC-2043-SG and especially the part concerning the details of the screw terminals.

I need to direct the channels A & B to the PFI 8 and 10 of the PCI-6221 which correspond to the SRC and AUX channels of the counter 0 (originally lines 37 and 45). However, I tried to use the lines 37 and 45 of the screw terminals but it did not work. Furthermore, in the documentation of the SC-2043-SG, I can find lines named SOURCE1 and SOURCE5 but no line is referred to as AUX. There are also GATEx and OUTx, but no AUXx.

Which lines should I use?

Thanks in advance,

Lionel

Hi Lionel,

I understand that you are trying to use your SC-2043-SG signal conditioning accessory to connect the A and B lines of an encoder to ctr0 on a PCI-6221 M Series card. Normally, on the 6221, these lines correspond to pins 37 (PFI 😎 and 45 (PFI 10), respectively. Which cable/adapter are you using for interfacing between the 50-pin accessory and the 68-pin connector on the 6221?

From looking at a few of these types of cables (such as the R6850 and SH6850), it appears that pin 37 on the 68-pin connector maps to pin 47 of the 50-pin connector. Also, pin 45 of the 68-pin device maps to pin 37 of the 50-pin terminal. Therefore, you should try connecting line A to pin 47 and line B to pin 37 on the SC-2043-SG. Hope this helps,
Daniel S.
