The inputs to 6602 (8 counters)card can be given 8 or 24 at a time ?

Hello,

          I have to know whether the 8 counters of the 6602 card can be given only 8 inputs at the gate pins or can i give 24 inputs including the source and auxilliary pins, which will be complementary signals.

That means I am having 6 signals(3 complementary ).can i read this 6 signals by using only 2 counters?give me some explanation.
