Good Afternoon -
We are using an NI GPIB-USB-HS controller with 3 chained HP 53131 Counters. We've loaded the latest NI driver for the GPIB-USB-HS as well as our measurement software onto two PC's in our lab (both running XP Pro SP3). On one PC, everything works fine. The measurement software configures the counters correctly and then starts pulling in measurements from each counter once per second. On the second PC, the measurement software appears to configure the counters correctly, but then when it starts the first measurement it just freezes as if it's lost contact with the counters. The other interesting piece is that it works just fine on BOTH PC's if we log measurements from just a single counter (with the others on and in the same chained configuration). This controller and software has also been used successfully on other PC's at a client site.
I'm attaching a text log from NISpy showing the GPIB traffic until the system hangs up. We believe there is an error in one of the commands that the measurement software is sending and we are working with the developers to fix that. In the mean time I am trying to figure out why it works on some PC's and not others, but I'm not familiar enough with these GPIB controllers to be able to narrow my search. Hopefully we weren't lucky enough to find the one PC that doesn't want to cooperate!
