With Frequency Shift Keying, can I start Out w/ Gate?

We're using a 6601 High-Speed Counter/Timer.   We generate a slow pulse train for use between "shots."  We use a fast pulse train during a "shot." The Gate for Frequency Shift Keying starts with an external shot trigger.  We want the fast pulse train to start synchronously with the trigger but it waits until the last slow pulse completes, so we get jitter between the external trigger and the fast pulse train.  Is there a) a way to fix this or b) a different module that would solve our problem?

Hi Bill -

It looks like you need discontinuous FSK output from a square-wave generation.  Our counter chips can only generate an entire pulse at a time, so they won't be able to "immediately" respond to a trigger input.

I think your best bet is to look into our Signal Sources.  We have arbitrary waveform generators with scripting capabilities that can almost certainly meet your application demands.  I recommend that you contact NI by phone to talk out the technical details of the application, so we can figure out the solution live.  If you know your sales representative, feel free to call them and have them put you through to the Applications Engineers.
