tio software trigger

I have a pci-6601 device that seems to have problems triggering off an internal signal. I am using the NI "Generate Pulse Train - Start Trig (NI-TIO)" example vi to software trigger the counter from the front panel button. This works fine for counters 0 and 1. Counter 2 is having a problem where it will not trigger on the first try when I start Labview. If I run the vi - trigger it (and nothing happens) and then stop the vi and repeat the process, it works the way it should.

Hi:

Thanks for contacting National Instruments.

On the PCI 6601/6602 counters 2-7 pins can also be used for Digital Input/Output tasks. The "Generate Pules Train-Start Trig (NI-TIO)" example uses a high level DIO VI (Write to Digital Line) which causes a port config after the group config for counters and interferes with the counter configuration.

However using lower level VIs, you can trigger any counter. Please look at the attached VI. Basically the high level VI (write to digital line) is replaced with a lower level VIs (Port Config & Write to Port). So after the counters are configured, we do not configure the lines again for digital output.

If you are unable to make this work on your computer, please do not hesitate to contact me b
ack.
