CAN to Ethernet

Hello,

Actually we use NI PCMCIA-CAN/2 card with Laptop.

The problem is to find Laptop with PCMCIA Port or Express Card hardware.
So, my question is, do you know a DasyLab compatible hardware that convert CAN datas to Ethernet ?
<=> We want an hardawre which transform CAN Datas to ethernet (usual on Laptop) and also compatible with DasyLab.
Thanks a lot.
Good week end.

I'm looking for ethernet solutions. I don't know if the ICPDAS device will work. Have you asked them?

Have you considered USB? NI has several.

Hello Hugus,

please contact the german company Ixxat. They have an CAN Adapter with Ethernet Interface -> CAN @ net II/VCI -> http://www.ixxat.com/can-at-net-vci_ethernet-gateway_en.html

This Interface should be supported from DASYLab 11.x and Ixxat API VCI-V3.

Best regards,
MHa

Hello,

Thank you.

I prefer to not use USB device (often troubles) and also we use 2 CAN Ports.

But the Ixxat Device seem to be ok ! I'll contact the supplier to test one of their solutions.

Thanks !

Hello,

I'm testing Ixxat CAN to USB II Adaptator.

I use the V2 driver.

I have WinXp SP3.

I tried with DasyLab V10 but without good results (big lag and buffer overside).

Now i test it with DasyLab V11 and it's better but not very well.

I saw on the DasyLab Website that Ixxat's Drivers V3 are ok with WinXp under V10 and 11 of DasyLab, but when i install them, DasyLab is looking for the V2 drivers. Need i have to modify the DasyLab.ini ? Or another way ?

Thanks for your answer

Are you using the DASYLab V11 Service Pack?

Hey,

Yes, i did it !

The error message is that Dasy can't find the drivers (dll) of the V2 version.

May be i need to do something else ? Copy the dll to the DasyLab directory ?

Thanks

Hello,

I made more tests.

In the DasyLab help for Ixxat hardware,it's written to use the 2.16 version => I made it but it's the same.

So, i saw that it's the buffer which goes fully.

I tried to increase bloc size to reduce the frame nber but it's the same.

With the Ixxat tool "Minimon32" i have no problem (bus load 63%). What is the tolerance of DasyLab, did it use filter or not ?

What can i do ?

Thanks a lot

Following points are important that DASYLab 11.x use VCI V2 or V3:

- If you have installed V2, it's clear.

- If you have installed V3, it's clear.
- If you have installed V2 AND V3, V3 is used. But don't forget to switch the CAN device driver also for V3 usage ( details Ixxat documentation)

Perhaps you can translate the german driver CAN model http://www.dasylab-forum.de/forum/index.php?showtopic=93 to understand the handling? We have not open bugs or problem points for the current CAN drivers from NI, Ixxat, Vector. Which Computer model and OS are used from you?
