File Write > 16 Channels & loss of original channel names

Hi, I am trying to find a way of writing >>16 channels of data ALL WITH UNIQUE CHANNEL NAMES (preferably in 'Diadem' format) using a file write module.
The merge/multiplex module allows up to 16 channels to be combined into 1 giving the file write module a max throughput of 256 channels. However, either the merge module (or file write module??) changes the original channel names & replaces them with names based upon the name of the first channel concatenated with a number relating to the actual channel itself.
So, e.g. if you feed 4 channels of data via a merge module into a single channel of a file write module and the channel names are as shown below, the names created in the file will appear thus.....
Channel Original Name Name created
Ch0 Data_A Data_A
Ch1 Data_B Data_A1
Ch2 Data_C Data_A2
Ch3 Data_D Data_A3
Have I missed something or, is it impossible to achieve what I’m trying to do?
In my particular application, it is IMPERATIVE that I maintain the original channel names!

Paul Towle.

Hi Tobias,

I never received any feedback from the guys at Dasylab (DasyTec/NI) about this issue.

Since seeing your posting, I've asked them again (because a solution to this would be good!)

In the meantime, I guess we'll just have to wait!!

How are you progressing with your use of IXXAT CAN interfaces and Dasylab?? (Perhaps I can have your e-mail address & we can liaise direct??)

Regards,

Paul Towle.

If you look in the Write Data module Options dialog, at the very bottom is a way to configure the name of the channel. It defaults to the DASYLab channel name, which, as you've noticed, gets lost when you merge channels.

Set up a global string for each channel name, then use this dialog to link each channel with the correct string.
