Improper shut down of DasyLab 9.0 running under XP results in corrupted installation requiring re-installation

I have accidently shut down XP before closing DasyLab 9.0 (more than once). This results in a system error message which reports "unable to read memory location xxxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxx is the memory address and have had to reinstall DasyLab to fix the problem. Is there a bug fix for this? I can't imagine DasyLab users not complaining about this one or DasyLab programmers not fixing it if they know about it.

Hi Jbazaar,

Thank you for posting on the National Instrument’s forums.

This is an issue that should be directed to the DASYTEC’s online technical support.

Thank You,

Nick F.

It's likely that the Dasylab.ini file is corrupt. You should update to V9.0.2, available at www.dasylab.com.

Thanks CJ. Is it possible to back up a clean copy of the ini file in case it happens again?

Sure, but, other things are stored in that file, too.

There are two things that broke with V9.0.2....

There's a REOPEN= key. If you closed the program while it was minimized, it might crash on opening.
Either delete the key, or change the number so that it ends with zero.

Also, the [Panes] section had a problem. Some odd combination of things happening while it starts up caused that section to be corrupted. Simply delete it all.

That way, you can save the rest of the settings in the file.

V9.0.2 fixed the problem. We'd really like for you to update to it, so that you don't have to deal with the bug at all.

Thanks CJ

I just downloaded the upgrade and will be installing it Monday morning. I'll let you know how I make out. Is there anything to look out for during installation?

The installation is complete. We will be performing a second shakedown run tomorrow. I have also notified my local distributor of this item. He was not aware of it. He will be contacting his other DASYLAB customers.
Thanks

We have previously posted it as a FAQ at the DASYLab forum

The forum appears to be down at the moment, but that's one location that we actively monitor, and respond to problems.

Alternately, over time, we will be moving more content to the User Forum at MCC.

NI does not directly support this software.... so we don't post too much in this forum.
