CANopen and NI Max/Diadem

Hello everyone!

I have a PCI-CAN/2 card, Diadem (configured through MAX) and a device (servomotor) which communicates through the CANopen protocoll. 

Before I get started putting everything together I have a simple question: Can Diadem/NI-Max be used with the CANopen protocoll?  It is my understanding that the CANopen protocoll is just an application level of CAN, and the CAN message itself is the same?

Hey Jeff_B,

Thanks for using the NI forums! Are you using LabVIEW at all within this chain? There is a specific NI CANopen LabVIEW Library which you could use to acquire your data, and then use DIAdem once the data has been acquired. Would this be suitable?

Is it the data from the PCI-CAN/2 card that you would want to be acquiring? Is this an NI device or third party CAN card?

If you are using NI-CAN, then you need the NI-CAN driver for your device, and then once the device is installed and setup in MAX, you should be able to use DIAdem DAC as Rebecca stated on your other forum
