That object seems to be used fairly rarely on our templates from what I can see (pretty much exclusively as a "optional user comment" field), so we've mostly just eliminated it in favor of regular text boxes (unless we know it's always going to be a small dataset) for now. It's not a major loss as they can still convey their comment, just with slightly less formatting options.
I suspect it doesn't help that we have permanently set BulkDataLoadingMode = eBulkDataLoadingImmediately (trying to avoid locking network files and possible issues with computer docking/undocking/sleeping, etc.).
