DIAdem Excel export creates additional index column

My application reads text channels out of an Excel file and writes modified data back into the same file. The problem is that during export DIAdem creates an additional "index" column in Excel (see image), which shifts all my data in that file one column to the right making it impossible to read the same file again with the predefined .STP files. Any idea how to solve that issue?
Kind regards, Thomas.

Hello Thomas,

this is a normal behaviour from the export assistent. You could delete it in excel, from DIAdem you can´t change any options.

Hi t.propst,

Your other option is to use ActiveX calls in a VBScript to insert the new values cell-by-cell back into the Excel spreadsheet.  You have to program it, and for lots of data the transfer speed won't be fast, but with this method you have ultimate control over which columns/cells get written and which don't.

Note that if you have the Excel spreadsheet open when you try to access it via the ActiveX VBScript, the VBScript will throw an error-- Excel will not let any other application touch an Excel file it has open.  Check out the example VBScript attached below.

brad,

thanks to you and rebecca for your advice. this seems to be the only solution right now.
of course the performance is not very well, but at least it works...

maybe i'll export the data the way i did before and delete the first column of data using activex, to get the performance i need for big files.

thomas.
