I am using SignalExpress Tektronix Ed v2.5.1 to collect data from my DPO3014 scope. I have my scope input connected to a function generator that outputs a 2usec pulse at 1Hz. The generator is configured to manually trigger the pulse when I press a button. I pressed it only once so I know there should be only one pulse captured in my data. When I import the recorded data from SignalExpress to Diadem there are two duplicate pulses in the imported data. On the other hand, when I export data from SignalExpress to an ASCII text file there is only one pulse which is the output I expect.
Why do two pulses show up in Diadem--see attached sample tdms file? I am new to Diadem so I'm thinking I have an incorrect import setting.
Is there a way to fix the data in Diadem once it has been imported?

Hi wallino -
DIAdem isn't creating the second pulse upon load - it's actually in the file. When you import the TDMS file into Excel (for example), here's the graph you get:
...which means that the issue lies with the data collection or export to TDMS, not the data import. Judging by the entries in the data file, it looks like two "blocks" were recorded, which would explain the two pulses.
Would you post more information about the way you're configuring SignalExpress / taking your measurement? How about the text file that you've exported? We'll do our best to help out for now but we may ultimately have to recommend the SignalExpress forum boards...

Attached is the ASCII version of the same TDMS file after I exported from Signal Express--it only has one pulse. I've also attached my settings for Signal Express. It does seem like a setting issue with SignalExpress but on the same token it somehow knows to ignore the duplicate information.

Hi wallino,
Thanks for the ASCII file. I loaded this into DIAdem, and I, too, only see one pulse. Could you provide us with more information about how you set up your logging for SignalExpress? Just to clarify, were the TDMS and ASCII logs created on the same execution? If so, are you creating these in steps within the project? As Derrick mentioned, too, it might not hurt to post this information in the SignalExpress forums since it sounds like it could be something regarding your setup for logging data, but we will be glad to help with what we can here. Thanks, wallino! Have a great evening!

Yes the ACSII logs are created on the same execution. There is only one step in the project to aquire signals from the DSO. To export the data I right click on the file in SignalExpress and select "Convert to ASCII". Attached is the SignalExpress project file that includes setup information with the data log in question.

Hi wallino,
Unfortunately, I could not open the project that you have attached. Could you provide screenshots that show how you are logging your data within your project instead? Thanks!

Hi wallino,
Are you logging this data by configuring the recording under the Recording Options tab? If not, are you running the project, clicking the Record button, and then generating the pulse to capture the data? Are you then right-clicking on the log file that is located in the bottom left-hand corner of SignalExpress to convert it to an ASCII file? Also, as Derrick mentioned in an earlier post, it might be most efficient to post this behavior in a SignalExpress forum, as well, since it seems that this behavior is being caused by something in the configuration within your SignalExpress project. Thanks!

Hi wallino,
I do have another suggestion. Could you try to reproduce this behavior? If you run the test again, generate one pulse with your pushbutton, and read the .tdms data from both DIAdem and Microsoft Excel, and then convert this data to an ASCII file, do you see the same behavior? I have run tests here to see if I get duplicate data in walking through this same process, and thus far, I have not been able to reproduce the issue. Thanks!
