I was using datafinder to index a networked drive and for the most part that worked. However I had a blue screen on my laptop (thanks in part to my cat) and after multiple reboots I get this error. I want to say that my index is corrupted but I cant prove that nor do I know how to do anything about that.

The DataFinder cannot start due to an internal error.

If the issue is due to a corrupted index, you can reset the index of the DataFinder. You should be able to reset DataFinder index by using DIAdem, even if DIAdem is not connected to DataFinder.
Therefore go to
Navigator -> Settings -> My DataFinder -> Reset -> Reset Index
