Yes, this is possible, and I've done it myself. DIAdem has no idea that the Windows it's running on is hosted in the cloud by AWS and hums along just like usual. The local licensing would be simplest, otherwise you need to host the VLM software on the same AWS computer as DIAdem is running on, or you'd have to arrange peer to peer networking between the AWS computer and the one running the VLM license server. Similarly with file access, if the files you want to read are on the same AWS computer that DIAdem is installed on, everything's easy. If the files you want DIAdem to read or write are on another computer, then you need to establish the external file location as a networked file location that the AWS image knows about. All possible, but local licensing and file I/O is simplest.
