TecPlot vs. DIAdem

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the program TecPlot.  We are starting to use DIAdem where I work and many engineers currently use TecPlot to look at their data.  I would like to know if DIAdem is capable of everything TecPlot is (which would be great) or if TecPlot is a seperate, unique program with its own benefits.  Any opinions would be very helpful.

I am unfamiliar with TecPlot.  If there are specific features that you expect from DIAdem, I would be happy to answer your questions.  DIAdem provides powerful capabilites including data management, analysis, and report generation.  These tools are easy and intuitive in the DIAdem environment which allows for quicker data development.  Additionally, DIAdem provides easy integration with Data Acquisition software such as LabVIEW.  Finally, DIAdem is built on top of a powerful VBScripting environment which allows for automation of data manipulation.  If need a quick overview of the features that DIAdem provides, I would start at this webpage:

I think Diadem has advantages over other packages if you want to analyse data stored in NI formats or in an NI Citadel database (using DSC Engine e.g.). Then it is much easier to get the data. For Diadem is a must, as we store all data in a Citadel database and I don't want to use complex SQL commands or something similar to get my data, but I want to have a nice interface to the database. And there's no other data analysis software package available that I know, that supports NI Citadel databases directly.

What's really nice in Diadem is the VIEW module where you can get a look of your data really fast and easier than in a real report layout. I'm not sure whether other packages have such a feature nowadays. Internal functions are pretty fast even on large data sets as well.
