Wrong font scaling after Report exported2pdf?

Hi,

I'm trying to export a DIAdem report as PDF-document, but the Font is scaled wrong on my machine, because the width of the font is too big.

By the way, I'm using DIAdem 11.0(German). Furthermore I tried to export my report on another machine and surprisingly the font was scaled appropriate.

However it doesn't make a difference which font I'm using because every font is scale wrong.

Attached you can find the PDF with bad scaling.

What could be the reason for that behavior? Are there any special settings?

I would be happy about some hints on that issue.

thx

Hi romi_wo,

Actually, your text looks pretty good when I view your PDF file on my US laptop.  Could you specify what about the text looks "verzerrt"?  Or perhaps post a picture file with the offending items circled in red or something?  Are you exporting to PDF interactively, or as part of a VBScript?  In the latter case, please post your VBScript.

Hi Brad,

First of all, thank you for the quick feedback.

I'm exporting the PDF interactively.

Enclosed you find a picture showing the differences in the Font scaling.

The top picture shows the PDF I exported on my machine (a laptop-computer with Windows XP SP2/DIAdem 11.0) which delivers the wrong scaling.

The picture below shows the way how the PDF should look like, hopefully you can see the slight difference. The correct PDF I've exported on my colleagues machine (Desktop machine with Windows XP SP2/DIAdem 11.0).

Anyway, I don't have a glue what could be the reason for this behavior.

If you need any further files please let me know.

Many Thanks

Wolfgang

Hi romi_wo,

Please can you post the layout file so that we can test that problem?

Hi Walter,

if you haven't yet created, please create a directory called "C:\WORK" on your machine and unzip the files there. Afterwards you should be able to run the "scripts/assignGlobalVars.VBS".

The report layout and the data should be loaded.

Hi

I've discussed the problem with our developers and we've made several tests. But all our tests worked fine and without any problem. So unfortunately we don't have a real idea what the reason for this problem is.
If you have a text in DIAdem the position for every character is calculated. That's necessary for WYSIWYG. (Maybe this is something which doesn't work proper on your PC.) This individual character positioning can be switched off, so that only the start position of a string will be calculated. You can try that, hoping it will produce better results. To test it, please, use the following command before creating the PDF (it's an undocumented variable):

To switch the individual character positioning off: NoChrPositioning = true
To switch the individual character positioning on (default): NoChrPositioning = false

I hope this can help you.

Greetings
Walter

Hi Walter,

I'm afraid, but it hasn't made any big difference.

Anyway, thank you for your support.

I had the same problem. But solved in a weird way.

Everything works fine for my office pc also for my colleague pc. But when I try to connect to a lab pc from my office pc via remote desktop connection, font scalings are changed. But when I try the same to the lab pc at lab, pdf files are correct.

So find out that difference in screen resolutions is the problem for my case. I have struggled for hours, checked every diadem setting, tried various things  but I find that problem is not related with diadem.

Hope it works for you.
