data plugin for DOL file

Solved!
Go to solution

I downloaded the DataPlugin and installed it - no problem so far. But as I wanted to import data not all channels could be loaded.

When I import the *.DAT-file there appear 8 VB msg boxes and afterwards just 16 channels load instead of 106. Pls see the attached *.DAT-file I want to import.

Has anybody else the same problem with the plugin? Is there a bugfix/workaround to solve the problem?

Thanks a lot for your help!

HI Dr. Fast,

I'm curious why you expected the TurboLab_DOL DataPlugin to work with your DAT file.  We have hundreds of DataPlugins on the web site because they cover different file formats.  The TurboLab_DOL DataPlugin is specifically designed to load *.dol files created by the TurboLab software.

It does look like the *.dat file you posted is an output file format from TurboLab, but it's not one that we've written a DataPlugin for.  Could you provide us with a binary file format description or API so that we could read this file format also?

By the way, I got only one clear pop up dialog saying the DataPlugin could not load the selected file.  I'm curious how you got so many dialogs...

Hello Brad,

sorry I didn't mention that I'm using the "Turbolab_DAFF DataPlugin" to import my *.DAT-files. (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2987)

This is the only this singe thread discussing the TurboLab topic do I decides to post it in here...

I would be glad if anybody could help me to import this data into DIAdem.

Thanks a lot!

Hi Dr. Fast,

I was able to reproduce to goofy message boxes when loading your data file with the TurboLab_DAFF DataPlugin.  I was also able to edit the DataPlugin to suppress those message boxes, but the values loaded into the data channels in the Data Portal don't look right to me.

Could you supply a CSV or TXT data file that contains the correct data values for all the channels in that *.dat file?  If so, I can have R&D take a look at it and see if they can expand/fix the DataPlugin to work with this/these data files.

Hi Brad,

thanks for the instant reply. I attach a *.csv file including all data.

If possible it would be great if the messages that appear in the msg boxes could be written into the group description somewhere so I can access these data after loading it into DIAdem. The Message contains a file label that I enter before measuring to annotate something to the measurements. In this case the complete annotation string can be seen in the screenshots. The screenshots have been taken in TurboLab.

See attachment for required files.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Dr. Fast,

I have forwarded your *.DAT and *.CSV file pair to R&D to review.  The data values those 2 files load into DIAdem are totally different.  In the meantime, I thought you might benefit from the DataPlugin I created to read your *.CSV file.

Hi Dr. Fast,

R&D has updated the Turbolab_DAFF DataPlugin in several ways (attached below), and it now works with the data files you submitted.

The version posted above as well as future updates of the Turbolab_DAFF DataPlugin are available at:

We will not post updates to the DataPlugin in this thread.
