Can i use diadem PDF printer for creating pdf files from word or excel?

No, the DIAdem PDF driver can only be used by the application "DIAdem.exe".

Isn't there any hack to this like change the registry value that recognises the application using it??

Possibly, but I've never heard of one, nor have I ever tried to find one.  Perhaps someone else has experience with this.  You can, however, purchase a legal PDF printer driver for something like $40, so you don't want to invest too much time here...

I believe there are also quite a few free word/excel to PDF programs out there - a quick google search found quite a few.
