Presentations for May 20th Meeting?

Hellohellohello,

As all should hopefully be aware, we have a meeting coming up on the 20th.  As Laurel is away doing stuff that can only be characterized as "funner", I have been tasked with leading this meeting.  As it is unlikely that you want to sit and watch me drone on about myself, I think that I can safely say that we all would rather hear about the esoteric bits of knowledge and the projects of awesomeness that have wowed you recently.  So, if you have something that you would like to share, could you please let me know so that I can put you on the schedule? Please? The pay is poor but the benefits are worse...

And, don't make me hunt you down - you will not enjoy the pressure of pulling together a presentation with me standing over you glowering.

Cheers, Matt

this might be a good time to take the ALARM on a tour of the Mines Robotics Automation and Design Lab if we are at Mines this meeting, there are a number of projects involving Labview we could talk about as well as possabilites we are exploring. I have card access to the lab as I still manage projects there. I could also aske a collegue of mine to talk about a project he did using labview to control a robot that was doing SLAM, autonomous measurement and condition monitoring of an oil refinery in Abudabi. Would any of those suggestions work?

I don't have time to pull together a real presentaion but I've been working on a LV interface to random.org's new JSON based API. I'd be happy to ramble on about the pleasures of working with JSON and whatever other challenges I've run into.

I'd love to see a presentation on the Labview web services.   Is anybody going who could speak to that?

Hey Ben,

Thanks for the offer.  How about next meeting?  Can I put you down there?  We are filled up at this point and the meeting is tomorrow.  I personally would love to hear a presentation on JSON as I am using it with web services to send data via http to and from a server.  I believe that I am the organizer for the next meeting also, so let me know.

Cheers, Matt

Leah,

I can talk about this next time.  I have been spending a lot of time with web services lately and I would actually like to give a more comprehensive presentation on how to use web services to architect an application using http requests.  Matt Whitlock has done something in the past, but I think that I can build on this.

Cheers, Matt

Matt, I'd be happy to help you if you need anything for the next meeting if you present on web services. I've done LabVIEW web services on a couple projects as well as various web and mobile clients talking to them. I've also produced and consumed web services on other languages and can provide commentary.

I like that, Matt.  I think that at the next meeting I would like to talk about the issues the developer would face when jumping from LV to web applications.  The more I have done this the more I learn.  And am surprised.  Let's touch base sometime in the future and maybe we can coordinate?
