Requesting License Files for NI License Manager

In order to use the NI License Manager SDK for your product, you first need to obtain a license file.  To obtain this, you must contact the NI Tools Network team with the following information:

  • Company Name
  • Product Name (1)
    • This is the top level name shown in NI license Manager
  • Version (2 - Only shown if no Display Version set)
    • Format: xx.xx.xx
    • This is the technical version number, but you may change the display version at a later time
  • Display Version (2 - Optional)
    • Free-form text
    • If a display version is set, this will show instead of the technical version
  • Type (3)
    • Application or Add-on
  • Label (4)
    • This is the second level name shown in NI License Manager
    • Some recommended labels are:
      • Base
      • Standard
      • Development System
      • Toolkit
      • etc
  • Licensing Exceptions
    • By default, third party licenses are created with a 7 day trial with option to extend to 45 days.  If your application requires a different licensing solution, please mention this in your email.

Note:  The above  information is required to generate the license file, but all of it may be overridden in the product by using a Product Info XML file.  For details on creating a Product Info XML, please see the NILM SDK documentation.
