How many NI cards can I have on a PCI bus?

I have an application with a large number of I/O points. I anticipate 12 PCI-6527 or more. I have found a PCI extension bus that will handle 13 cards, in addition to the number of slots in the PC. What is the limit to the number of PCI cards that I can use? Or do I have to shift to the PXI. I am quoting this system for a client and the cost of the PXI solution is significantly more.

The NI-DAQ driver does not specify or restrict how many PCI cards can be placed on the PCI bus. Keep in mind the PCI bus limitations and how much bandwidth your application may use if many devices are connected and functioning at the same time.

I would strongly suggest PXI for this application.
