I/O works in FP and MAE, but not LabView 5.1?

We have upgraded our OS from W98 to XP and are trying to run the labview 5.1 application.  The application appears to run fine with the exception of the thermocouple input not being read.  When I run the Measurement and Automation Explorer I am able to read the thermocouples fine.  When I run the Fieldpoint 2.0 software I can see the thermocouples fine.  When I run the LV 5.1 application it runs fine, but there is no input from the thermocouples.  When I check the source code I get an Error 20 at SCC NI-488 configuration token not found.  When I open the DAQ Channel viewer the application terminates.  Are there any driver or compatibility patches available to run the LV 5.1 application?

Hi Camp,

LabVIEW 5.1 is not supported in Windows XP, and this may be the cause of the error.  I would recommend upgrading your FieldPoint driver, but ther is no driver supported for LabVIEW 5.1 and Windows XP.  My best recommendation is to either downgrade your operating system or upgrading LabVIEW.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.  Best of luck on your application, and have a great day!!

Thank you for the response.  The next step we would prefer to take would be to import the existing application to a newer version of LabView.  Is it a simple matter to import the LV 5.1 application to Labview 8.0 or are there any pitfalls we should be looking out for?

Thanks again!  Camp.

Hi Camp,

Being that you are trying to upgrade LabVIEW several versions, I am not sure exactly what issues you may run into.  When you open the program for the first time in LabVIEW 8.0, a list of warnings and errors will be displayed after the program is compiled.  These warnings and errors will tell you what has changed from the two versions in LabVIEW and may not work as expected.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, or if there is anything I can do to help you out.  Best of luck in your application, and have a great day!!
