Lead Times

NI seems to make a good products, however with the lead times to get boards, I am being forced to go other directions. If this company wants to stay in business this needs to be addressed. In the time it takes to get a board, I can design one and build it. It is crazy that there is no US warehouse stock. In these day to have to wait 4-6 weeks to get a supposed off the shelf part is insane. I have a customer down and have to wait that long is not acceptable.

Out of curiosity, what board are you trying to get?  There are certain boards I can totally understand having domestic warehouse stock.  But I imagine most are built as needed (lean manufacturing).  And we all know COVID has completely destroyed that.  And when the board are manufactured in Malaysia, it just makes it harder to get stuff in.

Crossrulz,

It is the NI PCI-6528 Industrial, 24 channel I/O card, not anything odd. My point is, if they want to be considered for future projects, lead time is a major factor. I don't know about you, but to tell one of my customers that if there test system or manufacturing system, goes down, that it will take 4-6 weeks to get them back up, it will not be a good conversation. Therefore how in good conscience can I recommend using their products for anything but a hobby project.

Yes, I understand that with Covid19 things are a bit slower, but this is still not acceptable. In addition no heads up before you order about the lead time and then to keep extending it without notice is again not acceptable business practice.
