I have a simulator that supplies either 28V or ground per input channel (to Field Point cFP-DI-304). Originally we were going to wire directly to Field Point cFP-DI-304 which is capable of 32 digital input sinking channels and needs to be connected to a sourcing output device.
Now I have to connect to a PCI board. I have chosen the 6514 because it seems that the 6514 can handle the 28V from the simulator and it seems that the 6514 can also supply the 28V necessary for the cFP-DE-304 to turn the input channels on or off.
2 Questions:
1- Will the 6514 in fact meet my requirements as stated above?
2- CFP-DI-304 - I cannot find in any documentation exactly where I am supposed to physically connect the common to the other equipment for current flow. Can anyone direct me to the propoer documentation or explain where I should connect to common on the card?

Hello,
If you need to be able to connect directly to the cFP-DI-3014, you can connect two sinking IO as described in this knowledgebase which would remove the need for the 6514. The ground is going to be connected to one ofthe C terminals on the connector block that you would use for the 3014. That is outlined in the product manual on page 5. Exactly where you connect the C terminal will depend which connector block you are using.
