[PCI 6534] how to use 2 different strobe lines at Pattern I/O mode

Hi,

I am now using PCI-6534 to generate digital patterns to control the x-y stage.
The X, Y channels share the same 16-bit data lines (port 0,1),
but require 2 independent strobe lines (STBX,STBY).
Should I control port 4 to generate the strobe signal when I send out data?
or is there any better solution you would suggest?
Thanks beforehand.

Best,
Carson

Hi Carson,

In pattern I/O mode, the 653X device will generate data on every falling/rising edge of the REQ line. This REQ signal can be generated internally or based on an external device (2-18 of manual below). Your idea to make use of two lines on port 4 to acquire data (unstrobed input), to generate the appropriate internal clock for your 16-bit data line should work. If you can connect the two stages to two 16-bit data port, you can make use of REQ 1 and REQ 2 to control them independently.

You can access the 653X User Manual

Thanks,
